DAMTA Music Scholarship Auditions
1. DAMTA Music Scholarship auditions are only open to students who are currently taking lessons with a member of DAMTA.
2. Scholarship must be applied to music-related expenses, such as:
- music camp
- lessons with a different teacher
- college tuition (if majoring in music)
- expenses related to a live/in-person competition above the local level (e. g. registration fees, lodging, and mileage exceeding 60 miles one way). Mileage rates will be based on current IRS Business rates.
- masterclass fees
- a combination of the approved expenses above.
3. Winners need to apply their scholarship to the instrument/voice they auditioned on: e.g. pianists need to choose a piano camp, piano lessons, or apply their scholarship toward a piano college program.
4. Scholarship checks will be made out and sent directly to the person/company/school chosen by the recipient. Expenses that DAMTA is unable to pay directly will be reimbursed to the recipient based on submitted receipts. Recipient is responsible for notifying the Scholarship chair and providing all necessary information.
5. Scholarship amount is $250 for each level.
6. Winners cannot enter the same level again.
7. Teachers may not evaluate their own students.
8. Entrants need to bring original music scores to the audition: no photocopies! Digital copies that are accompanied by proof of purchase, and copies of music that is in the public domain are allowed.
9. Once repertoire has been submitted, no changes will be allowed.
10. Judge may or may not be a DAMTA-member.
